Price Street Traffic Calming Proposal The first significant Traffic Calming proposal from the City, focusing on Price Street, has now been approved by the City Council! Meanwhile, DNA is in favor of additional steps to calm traffic in the Historic District and city wide. The City's Citizen Office previously planned a traffic design meeting with us (DNA, Beach Institute and West Forsyth Associations.) We would like to revive this initiative to develop a master plan for the next 10 years which makes the downtown area safer and more pedestrian, bike, and people friendly. If you are concerned about this issue, please let your alderman candidates know and email your comments to DNA using the link button below. calm sav traffic
New Unified Zoning Ordinance ("UZO") UZO Website After year's of careful work and citizen input, the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) has released the draft of the proposed Unified Zoning Ordinance (UZO) and extended the public comment period until the end of January. DNA has been represented in the ongoing process and will continue to participate. MPC and DNA organized a special UZO workshop for downtown residents and businesses in late September, and we are considering further steps to help our members get up to speed on the implications of the UZO for downtown residents. Meanwhile we recommend members follow developments on the special UZO website using the link button above.
Revised City Regulations on Commercial Tours The City staff is working on revised regulations to establish parameters for commercial tours. An initial draft was withdrawn when it became clear that the needs of many stakeholders, including downtown residents, needed more careful consideration. DNA will monitor this process and seek advice from our members once a new draft is available.
Mayor and City Council Election DNA hosted a series of "Meet the Candidates" forums in lieu of our regular fall meetings during September and October. DNA will not be endorsing any specific candidates, but we wanted to provide as much information as possible so our members can make informed choices. We urge everyone to study the candidates and vote on November 8th.
