As of last week, you should have noticed a significant improvement regarding the Savannah College of Art & Design’s recently introduced motor coaches. SCAD has taken a hard look at their ridership numbers, taken new ridership measures, and their transportation department has committed to a more efficient number and routing of buses. They have spent time observing, riding and following the motorcoaches to understand the concerns recently brought to their attention. Changes in routing, as well as smaller shuttles in certain areas will be implemented soon. Plans for marked stops are in the works as well as working with drivers and the city to adhere to stopping and idling guidelines.
Here is SCAD's official statement:
"The SCAD Transportation Department is committed to analyzing our student, faculty and staff transit needs and how those needs safely impact neighborhoods within the City of Savannah and beyond. We will continue to make changes to improve the efficiency of our transportation system to achieve the best outcome for the SCAD community.”
As always, if you notice a specific situation or issue you may email your concerns to John Buckovich (firstname.lastname@example.org) for the appropriate follow up. Documentation such as photos, video, time of day, motorcoach number, etc. will help Mr. Buckovich identify the vehicle and driver to address the situation.
