The Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) determined that a high percentage of exterior light fixtures were not illuminated during the evening hours, thus promoting opportunistic crime in the Historic District. As part of its 2016 Public Safety Initiative, the DNA is creating a free giveaway program of energy-efficient exterior light bulbs.

The Program will begin on Saturday, July 18, 2016 and will conclude on the following Saturday, July 25, 2016 at the Forsyth Farmers Market. These dates were selected as weekends close to the National Night Out Program ( on Tuesday, August 2nd. DNA has supported this program for many years, encouraging neighbors to turn on their porch lights and greet each other.
