Savannah is a well-recognized historic city, but the city does not live in the past, although some tourists think so. It is important to focus on what lies ahead and plan for these changes. The Friends of Massie, in partnership with the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Savannah, sponsor quarterly lectures about history and architecture, and they want to open this development discussion to the public.
They have invited Kevin Klinkenberg, Executive Director, Savannah Development and Renewal Authority and Nick Palumbo, head of Smart Growth Savannah, to begin our conversation to take a hard look about future growth and planning.
* Does this have to be the good, the bad, and the ugly?
* How are our tourism industry and city planning interconnected?
* How do we enact mindful growth in a city famous for its preservation movement?
