KEY INFORMATION FOR DOWNTOWN SAVANNAH RESIDENTS

I .  Dial 311 for central access to all city Departments and Services

II.  DNA Ward Organization:    DNA WARD BOUNDARIES        email the warden

DNA has divided Savannah's historic downtown area into a series of "Wards", centered on the downtown squares, as  originally envisioned by Savannah's founder General Oglethorpe.  A volunteer DNA member serves as the "Captain" for each ward and provides a local link with DNA on matters of concern to residents of the ward.  The Ward Captain also organizes volunteers from the ward to decorate "their" square for the holidays.  A "Warden", on the DNA Board, coordinates the activities of the Ward Captains and advises the DNA Board and the City on matters concerning the wards.  If you need to contact your Ward Captain, email The Warden using the link above.   DNA provides the Ward Captains contact information for members in their ward.  Joining DNA is a good way for new residents to meet their ward neighbors!

IV.  Voting in Local Elections

DNA is non-partisan, and we do not endorse specific candidates.  But we strongly urge all downtown residents to register and vote in local elections.  Political leaders pay attention to people who vote.  A strong record of downtown participation in elections assures that the views of downtown residents will be fully considered by local leaders.

Registration is Quick and Easy.  Registering to vote in Georgia qualifies you to vote in all local, state and national elections.  Many people register to vote when they obtain their Georgia Drivers License.  The Chatham County Board of Registrars is responsible for local registration of voters,  maintaining the list of registered voters,  issuing absentee ballots, and disseminating information to the public.   You can check your registration status and obtain registration forms and information on the "My Voter" page of their website using the link button below.  The Registration Form button below will bring up an application form you can fill out at the computer, print out, and mail in to register.
