It's time to renew your membership for 2026! For more than 40 years, the Downtown Neighborhood Association has been led by downtown residents who care deeply about protecting the Landmark District’s architectural heritage, encouraging restoration and beautification, and supporting the organizations that make downtown Savannah such a special place to live and work.
With DNA’s ongoing public safety initiatives, there has never been a more important time for residents and downtown businesses to stay involved. DNA is the recognized neighborhood liaison with both the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department and the City of Savannah, ensuring that resident voices are heard where it matters most.
Savannah’s government and political leaders respect—and actively seek—DNA’s perspective on policy issues. Through our Board of Directors and committees, DNA continually advocates for preserving the Landmark Historic District, improving city planning and zoning, managing tourism, calming traffic, regulating large-scale development, reducing noise, addressing crime, protecting the environment, promoting fair property taxes, and much more. Our members help shape these positions through committee work and regularly appear before City Council, the Historic Review Board, the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and other decision-making bodies.
Throughout the year (with a short summer break), DNA hosts monthly membership meetings focused on timely issues impacting our downtown neighborhoods. These meetings feature influential speakers, informative presentations, and open Q&A sessions. Members also receive regular email updates, invitations to events, and an annual printed newsletter. DNA stays connected online through Facebook and an active presence on the Landmark District’s Nextdoor community.
Each monthly meeting begins with a catered happy hour, giving neighbors and community leaders a chance to connect and socialize. DNA also hosts additional social events, including the annual Spring Picnic each May and weekly Ward Parties, which offer a fun and welcoming way for neighbors to get to know one another.
DNA’s signature event—the Downtown Neighborhood Association Holiday Tour of Homes—is a cornerstone of our mission. Funds raised through this event are reinvested into organizations that enhance our quality of life and support public safety initiatives. Neighbor sponsorships play a vital role in making this event—and DNA’s broader efforts—successful.
Our impact is strengthened through partnerships with organizations such as the Savannah Downtown Business Association, Tourism Leadership Council, and Historic Savannah Foundation. Together, these groups are advocating for a shared vision for the future of downtown Savannah.
We hope you’ll renew your membership and continue to be part of the voice shaping our downtown community.
Without the Downtown Neighborhood Association, who would be vocal in protecting your interests in Savannah’s unique downtown fabric and advocating for public policies? We invite you to join or renew your membership for 2026 and help us continue our mission of preserving the quality of life in downtown Savannah!
