President's Message - April 1, 2024

From the President:

I want to thank those of you who joined us for the testing of the proposed directional speakers for trolleys.  We had about 20 people join Board members to see if the speakers would be viable.  The consensus seemed to be that the installation of these speakers significantly reduced the volume of noise coming from the inside the trolley.  So far, only one of the three main trolley companies operating in Savannah plan on installing these speakers.  The Board will continue to monitor the planned noise ordinance that the City Manager announced at our last membership meeting to see when all of the companies will be required to have their trolleys eliminate noise emanating from inside their vehicles.

The Board is happy to say that the 2024 Legislative Session has ended without the short term vacation rental amendment being attached to any proposed bill.  It is now dead for this session.  We will continue to monitor any plans to try again next year.

Reminder that our next membership meeting is scheduled for April 16 with the social period beginning at 5:30.  Our speaker at this meeting will be Ms. Diane Pinckney, Director, Chatham County 9-1-1.  We will again be meeting at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St.
