President's Message - July 7, 2025

Historic Preservation:

This week has two upcoming MPC hearings that will be heard for proposals that DNA believes to be inappropriate for construction or placement in our Historic District.

In an effort to get the details out to our members we sent out two Eblasts last week so that members would be able to review the details of each proposal and send their thoughts in to the appropriate venue for entry into the public record.

I am hoping that many members had the opportunity to take a moment to send your thoughts into MPC regardless of what side (pro or con) of the proposals they were on.

Ward Captain openings/opportunities

We currently have Ward Captain openings in several wards:

Chippewa Square, Lafayette Square, Monterey Square, Orleans Square and

Wright Square

Members…. There is no longer a need for the Ward Captain to coordinate Holiday decorations.

Now, it’s just keeping the email list up to date and pushing key notifications out to your neighborhood. And perhaps organizing Square gatherings if that’s something your ward enjoys.

Take a look at this list of Squares……West Side!!!! Come on folks!!!!

Oglethorpe Mall Mass Shootings

I’m not sure what to say about this senseless and tragic event.

However, what I can say, with certainty, is that every firearm stolen from an unlocked vehicle is a firearm that can be used against innocent people.

Please Lock your Vehicles and stay safe out there!!!!
