President's Message - September 22, 2025

From the President:

For those of you who missed last Tuesday’s general membership meeting, below are the results of the Forced Rank Priorities Survey we conducted just before the summer break.

The three priorities rising to the top of the list are preserving the historic character of the Landmark District, mitigating over tourism at night in residential areas, and stricter regulation of Short-Term Vacation Rentals.

And, based upon the recent surge in loud vehicles ripping around downtown, we have given a higher priority to addressing that aspect of living downtown (which at the time of the survey placed 6th in the ranking).

We will keep you all tuned in as progress is made on these priority issues, and occasionally, we may need members to participate in making their voices heard to those who represent us.

This will be especially important on the initiatives that need to be resolved at the Georgia State legislative level for the longer-term resolution on the loud vehicle issues. More to come on that front.

On another note, congrats to our Holiday Tour of Homes team, the new VIP ticket category was sold out in two hours and all regular tickets were sold out within three days.

We are off to a roaring start!!!!

As we announced at last Tuesday’s meeting, sign-up for docent opportunities will be released next month in October. And, we will give DNA members a head start to sign up to be a docent before it’s opened up to everyone else.

Remember, docents get an all-day pass for the tour outside of the 3-hour docent commitment. This is an opportunity to get involved in helping your organization, meeting other interesting folks, and to help out in a charitable cause. Plus, from personal experience, it’s a fun day all around.

Check out the survey results below (lower score is a higher priority), and when the Cheshire Cat asks us where we are going, we are now in a position to point to our survey results.

There shall be no Mad Hatter Tea Party for the DNA!!!

(Well, maybe a nice picnic in May)
